I first came across this strategy when listening to a Youtube video were Mel Robbins was being interviewed.  She spoke candidly about her struggles and challenges in life and the methods that she used to build new habits and get things done, even when she didn't want to.

The 5 Second Rule was one of those strategies Mel spoke about and it has gained a lot of popularity in recent years. Essentially, the idea is that when you have an impulse to take action on something, you should do it within 5 seconds, otherwise your brain will talk you out of it.

The rule is simple: when you have an idea or impulse, you count down from 5 and then take action. This simple technique can help you overcome procrastination, hesitation, and fear, and can be applied to any area of your life.

Imagine that you have been wanting to start a new workout routine but have been struggling to get motivated. One morning, you wake up with the intention of going for a run, but as you lay in bed, you start to feel hesitant and unsure.
