I am always interested in finding ways to have the best day possible and I've come across various strategies that people can use in the morning.  These methods usually focus on doing one or two things, but I have recently come across the Miracle Morning, which recommends using a variety of methods.

Hal Elrod's "The Miracle Morning" is a self-help book that has been making waves in the personal development world since its publication in 2012. In this book, Elrod presents his method, which is a series of practices designed to help people start their day with purpose and intention. Many reviews suggest this method has helped them transform their lives.

Developing a morning routine can have numerous benefits for your mental, physical, and emotional health. Here are some of the key benefits:

  1. Increased productivity: Helps you to be more productive throughout the day. By having a clear plan for your morning, you can focus on your priorities and accomplish more.
  2. Reduced stress: Helps to reduce stress and anxiety levels. By incorporating practices like meditation, deep breathing, or journaling into your routine, you can start your day with a sense of calm and clarity.
  3. Improved physical health: A morning routine that includes exercise or stretching can help to improve your physical health. By starting your day with movement, you can boost your energy levels and improve your overall health.
  4. Improved mental health: A morning routine that includes mindfulness practices like meditation or yoga can help to improve your mental health. By taking time to care for your mental and emotional wellbeing each morning, you can reduce anxiety, improve your mood, and increase your sense of happiness and fulfillment.
  5. Increased focus and motivation: By starting your day with a clear sense of purpose and direction, you can increase your focus and motivation throughout the day.  Helping you to set goals, prioritize your tasks, and stay on track with your work and personal goals.

The six practices

Hal Elrod, the author of "The Miracle Morning," came up with the acronym SAVERS to represent the six practices he recommends for a successful morning routine.

According to Elrod, he was inspired to create the acronym while on a run, where he was reflecting on the different practices he had used to transform his own life. He realized that there were six things that had helped him to achieve his goals and live a more fulfilling life.

The Miracle Morning method consists of six things that are to be done in sequence each morning:

  1. Silence: This involves spending a few minutes in quiet reflection, meditation, or prayer. The idea is to clear your mind and set a positive intention for the day.
  2. Affirmations: Affirmations are positive statements that you repeat to yourself. The idea is to create a positive mindset and to focus on your goals.
  3. Visualization: Visualization involves imagining yourself achieving your goals. This practice helps to create a sense of motivation and purpose.
  4. Exercise: Exercise is an important part of the Miracle Morning method. It helps to increase energy levels, improve focus, and reduce stress.
  5. Reading: A great way to learn and to expand your knowledge by reading for at least 10 minutes each morning.
  6. Writing: Writing can be a powerful tool for self-reflection and personal growth, spending a few minutes each morning writing in a journal.

One of the great things about the strategy is that it can be tailored to suit individual needs and preferences. For example, if you're not a morning person, you could do the six practices in the evening instead. Similarly, if you prefer a different type of exercise or meditation, you can customize the method to suit your needs.

The method is not suitable for everyone and before considering it, here is the downside.

  1. Time commitment: Requires a significant time commitment of one hour each morning, which may be challenging for some people.
  2. Not suitable for everyone: Some people may not find the practices included to be effective or may prefer different methods for achieving their goals.
  3. May become routine: Doing the same routine every day can become mundane and lead to boredom.
  4. Requires discipline: It requires a certain level of discipline and commitment to maintain the routine.
  5. Not a quick fix: It's not a quick fix for personal growth and may require consistent practice over a period of time to see results.

To conclude,  I think one of the key strengths of this book is its emphasis on the importance of starting each day with intention and purpose. By establishing a morning routine that incorporates practices to enhance mental, physical, and emotional health, you can set yourself up for a successful and fulfilling day.

However, it is important to note that the method does require a significant time commitment, which may not be feasible for everyone. Additionally, as with any self-improvement method, consistent practice and dedication are required to see results.

Overall, I believe that The Miracle Morning is a valuable resource for individuals looking to improve their lives and establish a successful morning routine and can be adapted to suit individual circumstances.
