Growth Strategy #67: Three Important Questions

Growth Strategy #67: Three Important Questions

As a personal growth enthusiast and coach, I strongly believe that personal growth and self-improvement are essential for living a fulfilling life. Countless platforms have gained a lot of popularity in recent years and one of them is Mindvalley.

The founder, Vishen Lakhiani has shared some powerful insights and one of my favourite is the three most important questions he recommends that can help you achieve your goals and live your best life.

Good For: Gaining clarity and increasing self-awareness
Best used by: You

The are several benefits to asking these questions, which include:

  • Increased clarity: By asking yourself what experiences you want to have, how you want to grow, and how you can be of service, you gain clarity on what you truly want in life. This clarity can help you make better decisions and take more intentional action towards your goals.
  • Self-awareness: By reflecting on these questions, you become more self-aware of your values, beliefs, and strengths. This self-awareness can help you identify your areas of growth and create a plan to improve them.
  • Motivation: By identifying what experiences you want to have and how you want to grow, you create a sense of purpose and motivation that can drive you towards your goals.
  • Alignment: By aligning your actions with your values and purpose, you create a sense of congruence and authenticity that can lead to greater fulfillment and happiness.

The questions

  1. What experiences do I want to have in this lifetime?

This question is all about identifying what you truly want to get out of life. It's important to take some time to reflect on what experiences will bring you joy, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose.

This could include anything from traveling the world to starting a business to having deep and meaningful relationships. Once you've identified the experiences you want to have, you can start to create a plan for how to make them happen.

Sample response:

I want to travel to different parts of the world and experience different cultures. I want to learn about the history and traditions of different countries, try new foods, and meet new people. I also want to start my own business and create something that will make a positive impact on the world.

I want to feel the sense of fulfillment that comes with building something from scratch and making a difference in people's lives. Finally, I want to have deep and meaningful relationships with my family, friends, and partner.

I want to create a strong support system that will be there for me through thick and thin, and I want to be there for them in the same way.

2. How do I want to grow?

This question is all about identifying the areas of your life where you want to improve and develop. It's important to recognize that personal growth is a lifelong journey, and there is always room for improvement.

This could include anything from developing new skills to improving your physical health to cultivating a more positive mindset. Once you've identified the areas where you want to grow, you can start to take actionable steps towards achieving your goals.

Sample response

I want to grow in several areas of my life. Firstly, I want to improve my public speaking skills as I feel nervous and anxious when speaking in front of a large audience. Secondly, I want to become more physically fit and healthy by exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet.

Thirdly, I want to cultivate a more positive mindset by practicing gratitude and mindfulness meditation. Fourthly, I want to develop my leadership skills by taking on more responsibilities at work and learning from successful leaders.

Finally, I want to improve my financial literacy and start investing my money wisely to achieve my long-term financial goals.

3. How can I be of service?

This question is all about identifying how you can contribute to the world and make a positive impact. It's important to recognize that we all have unique gifts and talents that we can use to help others.

This could include anything from volunteering in your community to starting a non-profit organization to simply being kind and compassionate to those around you. Once you've identified how you can be of service, you can start to take action towards making a difference in the world.

Sample response

I can be of service in several ways. Firstly, I can volunteer at a local shelter or charity organization to help those in need. Secondly, I can mentor young people and share my knowledge and experience with them to help them achieve their goals.

Thirdly, I can use my skills and expertise to offer pro bono consulting services to non-profit organizations. Fourthly, I can support local businesses and help them grow by promoting their products or services to my network.

Finally, I can spread kindness and positivity by being compassionate and empathetic towards those around me and spreading joy and happiness wherever I go.

What next?

After answering these questions, I recommend taking some time to reflect on your answers and then creating an action plan to help you achieve your goals and align your actions with your values and purpose. Here are some steps you can take:

  • Review your responses to each question and identify common themes and priorities.
  • Write down your goals and break them down into smaller, achievable steps.
  • Create a timeline for achieving your goals and track your progress along the way.
  • Identify any obstacles that may prevent you from achieving your goals and come up with strategies to overcome them.
  • Take action towards your goals and regularly review and adjust your plan as needed.

Remember, these questions are just a starting point for self-reflection and personal growth. The most important thing is to take action towards achieving your goals and living a life that aligns with your values and purpose.
